Jammu: Member Legislative Council Firdous Tak Friday reiterated the demand for proper rehabilitation package and local recruitment for the affected families in the upcoming hydel power projects coming up on river Chenab in Kishtwar district.

“I have been assured that proper rehabilitation package as approved by the state cabinet will be implemented before the power projects of Pakal Dul, Keeru and Kwar are taken up for execution”, he said adding, “The power affected families deserve special package and cannot be neglected while the prestigious projects are taken up in their backyard”.

Tak was speaking at a function here where large number of prominent political workers from Dachan area of Kishtwar, led by Som Nath Thakur, Retd Lecturer, joined Peoples Democratic Party. They included Dr B.K. Thakur, Retd Joint Director Sheep Husbandry, Kunj Lal Thakur, Retd Senior Assistant Education Department, Raj Kumar, Sewar Chand, Sukh Ram, Ali Muhammad and Akhtar Hussain.

PDP District President Sheikh Nasir Hussain, State Secretary Youth Umar Malik, Sajad Ahmed Dev, Jaffer Hussain Babzada, Girdhari Lal, Nazir Ahmed, Shanti Koul, Muhammad Ramzan, Abdul Wahid, Muhammad Iqbal besides other were present on the occasion.

The legislator congratulated people of Kishtwar for final award of the three power projects to the construction companies hoping that the physical work of the projects will commence soon. “It is for the first time that a Rehabilitation Package has been formulated and approved by the state cabinet for Pakal Dul and same package is being followed for other projects”, he said.

Tak said that various forces in and outside the state had joined hands in order to destabilise the present dispensation. “The opposition parties did not left any stone unturned to fane patience in Kashmir and elsewhere with a hope that they will regain power, the only objective of these political organisations”, he said adding that the state Chief Minister Ms. Mehbooba Mufti worked at the ground level to steer the state out of the crises and unrest. “It’s her hard efforts and leadership qualities that peace has returned to Valley”, he said.

“The PDP has not only been able to ensure pro-people and all-round development initiatives during the past two years but it have provided legitimacy to the political set up in Jammu and Kashmir. During its rule, the NC leadership pushed the state into darkness and unending woes. It created a political vacuum and distrust among masses that resulted into chaos,” Tak said. “The PDP has toiled hard to win back the trust of people who have started reposing faith in political and democratic setup. These achievements of PDP have mounted the level of frustration within the power-hungry National Conference and Congress. Such tricks of NC leadership won’t yield any outcome for it,” he said.
